Closed-circuit television
What is CCTV
Closed-circuit television (CCTV), also known as video surveillance, uses video cameras to provide images to a monitor (or recorder) via a private transmission system and is not publicly distributed.
CCTV comes in two main forms both of which are normally recorded locally:
- Self-monitored
- Remotely monitored using a Remote Video Response Centre (RVRC)
CCTV has changed a lot in the 21st Century and in recent years has increased in popularity mainly due to the improved availability of the equipment, leading to lower equipment prices, along with significant increases in performance for both the video cameras and recording solutions. The technology, when designed and implemented correctly, can vastly improve existing security systems and reduce business costs.
Current technologies are:
- Analogue Standard Definition
- Analogue High Definition video over coaxial cable
- Internet Protocol (IP) High Definition and Ultra High Definition
Why use BGE Digital?
We have been designing, installing and maintaining CCTV systems since 2000
We take many factors into consideration when designing CCTV systems:
- Light levels and use of infra-red and/or white light
- Camera angle and field of view
- Image resolution and distance to object
- Frame rate, video quality and compression
- Aesthetics including camera housings and cable routes
- Cable and equipment protection
- Environmental conditions including glare from the sun or other bright lights and foliage growth
- Bandwidth and storage
We use the latest software for system design to ascertain camera views, angles, heights and lens sizes
We design, install, service and maintain CCTV systems to National Security Inspectorate (NSI) Code of Practice 104 (NSI NCP 104), BS EN 50132-7 and to BS8418 for detector activated CCTV systems
We are independently audited by NSI against the above standards
We specialise in IP systems. We can ensure either dedicated networks or secure VLANS are used for your security systems
We have experience in the design and installation of advanced systems including:
- RVRC systems with Police Response
- Detector activated CCTV
- Video analytics
- Public address systems to warn off intruders
- Audio recording with lip-sync
- Evidential recordings in compliance with the Police and Criminal Evidence (PACE) Act
- Multiple monitors and video walls
